Grading Structure The NF Wing Chun grading system is primarily based on our traditional forms (and the concepts and theories contained within them) Level 1 - is the beginning level. The practitioner is introduced to the 1st empty hand form, Sil Lim Tao, the Foundation Concepts and Theories of the system, basic self defense, Dun Chi Sao, and the single arm change over exercise. Level 2 – is the intermediate level. The practitioner is introduced to the 2nd empty hand form, Chum Kiu, Chong Chi Sao, Poon Sao, the top and bottom changes in the Poon Sao drill, kicking drills and exercises, and various stance applications including Chi Gerk drills. Level 3 – at this stage the practitioner is introduced to the Mock Jong, both external and internal approaches, combat Chong Chi Sao, and advanced stance work and self-defense. The practitioner is also taught and expected to perform the Mock Jong and all Chi Sao exercises and self defense drills blindfolded. Level 4 – this is the advanced level of our system. At this stage the practitioner will learn the 3rd empty hand form, Bil Jee, the 6 1/2 point pole form and the short butterfly knives form. Level 5 – this is the first of the instructor grades, from this level onwards the practitioner is sanctioned to teach in their own right. Level 6 – this level is awarded after a two (2) year period from the level 5 grading and with the following conditions, government accreditation is kept up to date and the practitioner continues to train and teach on a continuous basis. Level - 7 ,8 ,9 and 10 are awarded with the same conditions as Level 6. Up to Level 4, gradings are at approximately 4 month intervals with a minimum requirement of 75% attendance for students who wish to be formally graded. Gradings are not compulsory though to access the advanced forms and techniques of the system the student is encouraged to do so. Instruction is based on a rotating curriculum and is aimed at imparting foundation Wing Chun techniques and concepts to the students in the quickest and most efficient way. © All pictures, symbols and information contained on this site are protected by copyright Site designed by Julie T.
